BRMS Named a Top School by Johns Hopkins Center for Talented Youth Black River Middle School has been named a top school for the state of New Jersey in the 2009 Johns Hopkins University Center for Talented Youth (CTY) Talent Search. CTY Talent Searches identify, assess, and recognize students with exceptional mathematical and/or verbal reasoning abilities. Students are eligible to participate if they are ranked at the 95th percentile or higher on one or more subtests of a nationally-normed standardized test. According to CTY, a “top school” has a solid core of very high achieving students, and the school encourages its high achievers to seek outside opportunities for educational growth.
